"Listing on WE provides an easy revenue stream"
Mark Rigor of Calgary, Alberta, has owned a trailer since the spring of 2016. It allows him to enjoy the comfort of home while discovering different campgrounds all across Alberta. Before Wheel Estate, his trailer was out on the open road about 3-4 times a year, mostly in the summer months. He’d never considered a rental property before, but heard about a sharing site option from a friend who’d seen great results renting out his trailer. So he thought he’d try it for himself. In his first year with Wheel Estate, Mark has been very happy with the whole process, “It's been very easy to list the trailer - the WE site pretty much covers all the relevant info so that a client can choose which trailer to rent out.” As for Mark’s trailer, it’s now booked out for the summer months, instead of spending most of the time in storage. Listing on WE provides him an easy revenue stream and a way to cover the costs on the trailer itself, things that add up like insurance, storage, maintenance and mortgage payments.
Getting RV Rental Ready
For those interested in renting their trailer, Mark recommends first knowing the ins and outs of what it takes to keep a trailer in tip top rental shape, such as knowing where nearby dump stations are and where service, propane, and parts can be purchased last minute. “Once you develop a plan on how to quickly prep the trailer for the next client it’s easy to manage and get more bookings.” Mark spreads the word with his own smart marketing in Kijiji and Facebook buy and sell groups directing them to the wheel estate website posting for all the info.
Oh the Places Your RV Will Go…
Besides having an extra income, it's been exciting for Mark to meet renters who share similar outdoor interests. He enjoys hearing their adventure stories, and trip details like where they stayed and the great sights they saw along the way. Collecting new tips and info about all the interesting new places his trailer now travels to.
